Artificial Intelligence – The New Face of Technology

Technology has faced so many new changes over the last decade – its mind blowing how much of it has shaped the way we live in today’s era. One of the top and most interesting technology forms we are facing now is artificial intelligence (AI). Nowadays, it’s simply normal that computers have the ability to learn in much the same way as humans do. AI is an important aspect to our society – we can now rely on AI to undertake more tedious tasks while we concentrate on the bigger part of our business.

Artificial Intelligence technologies

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? According to Tech Radar, AI is defined as, “a concept refers to computing hardware being able to essentially think for itself, and make decisions based on the data is being fed. AI systems are often hugely complex and powerful, with the ability to process unfathomable depths of information in an extremely quick time in order to an effective conclusion.” AI systems are changing the way we live together; they are able to perform computing tasks quicker than what we predicted throughout the years.

AI is quickly becoming the norm in today’s world. With smart assistants like Siri, Alexa and Google – it’s becoming a common presence in day-to-day lives. As time moves forward, there seems to be no limit to the applications of AI technologies – it’s exciting to see what we should expect next.

2017 had some great artificial intelligence technologies to remember – but this current year of 2018 are ones to dominate. Here are some exciting technologies within the AI realm to watch out for:

1. Speech Recognition

Yes, we all know the famous Siri, Alexa and Google – but as time goes by, don’t be surprised to find more and more systems that are capable of transcribing human language, reaching hundreds of thousands through voice response interactive systems and mobile apps. It’s becoming the norm and a must to offer as a business.

2. Virtual Agents

Virtual agents are becoming more and more popular; they are known as chatbots. Many bigger companies are using these agents for things like customer service and support and smart home managers. While providing customers with instant support; saves bigger companies like Amazon, Google, Instagram, IBM, and Microsoft to save some money as well.

3. Machine Learning Platforms

Believe it or not, computers have the ability to learn easily and considered very intelligent. Machine learning (ML) is a branch of AI and is known to develop techniques that allow computers to learn a specific task, such as understanding speech or captioning a photography. Currently we use machine learning for prediction and classification. Many companies such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, to name a few are selling these types of platforms.

4. Natural Language Generation

Another sub-discipline is natural language generation – it converts data into text, enabling computers to communicate ideas with perfect accuracy. Companies like Attivio, Automated Insights, Digital Reasoning, etc. offer this type which is used in customer service to generate reports and market summaries.

5. AI-Optimized Hardware

Through new graphic and central processing units and processing devices, AI is capable of making hardware much friendlier.

6. Decision Making

Introducing rules and logic to AI systems is the norm when it comes to dealing with incredibly intelligent machines. They are useful for when it comes to initial setup/training, ongoing maintenance, and tuning.

7. Deep Learning Platforms

Another form that has unique assets is called deep learning platforms. Deep learning platforms are technology that has the capability of mimicking the human brain, process data and create patterns for decision making. Artificial neural circuits with various abstraction layers are what is used. These machines are currently being used to recognize patterns and classify applications that are only compatible with large-scale data sets.

8. Biometrics

Biometrics is known to identify, measure and analyze human behavior and physical aspects of the body’s structure and form. You can expect this feature to have the ability of more natural interactions between humans and machines. This includes interactions related to touch, image, speech and body language recognition. Some major companies such as Sensory, Tahzoo, Agnitio are all working hard to develop this area.

9. Text Analytics and Natural Language Processing (NLP)

With the help of text analytics, computers are able to understand the structure of sentences, as well as their meaning and intention, through statistical methods and ML. It’s most commonly popular in security systems and fraud detection industries. You can also find that automated assistants and apps to extract unstructured data use this system.

10. Cyber Defense

If you find yourself attacked or threatened in the cyber or real world; you can count on cyber defence to prevent, detect and provide timely responses.

AI technology is increasingly popular in today’s tech world; there are many major tech firms developing robust machine-learning technology for use in-house and to sell to the public. With no surprise, one of the top leading firms that regularly makes headlines in AI is Google. Google with its DeepMind Al AlphaGo – has majorly impacted the AI world.

While many may think the US is leading the artificial intelligence influence; you are wrong. Chinese firms Alibaba, Baidu, and Lenovo are investing heavily in AI – from ecommerce to autonomous driving – you better believe the country of China is a highly role in AI society.

AI technology is helping the way we communicate and live our everyday lives today; for better or for worse, AI is here to stay and get more advanced as time passes. Who knows what the future holds; but get ready for what’s to come!
